The New Life Collection has a lifestyle portrait approach, which results in a curated selection of natural images that represent this time of life beautifully. We plan the timing & location for each session with intention, and I guide you through each session so you’re never left wondering what to do. Maternity and newborn sessions have the most posing & guidance, and sessions three and four naturally invite some more candid, interactive moments as your baby grows & their personality starts to blossom!
If you’d prefer a 100% candid, real-life approach to your collection, you may be interested in the more storytelling nature of the Year in the Life Collection! You’ll find different pricing & inclusions with the collections available there.
I find the sweet spot for newborn sessions to be when your baby is 7-14 days old. By then you’ve hopefully gotten the chance to settle in at home and start learning your new rhythms together as a family. And baby is still nice and little! Once your baby is born, we connect within a few days to schedule a day & time for the newborn session. But please - the time to book your session is now, not after your baby is born. You’ll have plenty of other things to think about at that time!
I always come to you for newborn photos! Having the session at home means you’re in a comfortable environment, anything you need for the baby or yourself is at arm’s reach, and you get true-to-life photos in your space. Seeing yourself snuggle your newborn right there on your couch or on the glider in the nursery is the best way to look back on how these sweet moments are really unfolding.
Subsequent sessions in the New Life Collection can be at home, a local park, or another meaningful spot. We’ll chat throughout the year about what you’re looking for!
