“I was dreading being in pictures from the photoshoot for our daughter’s first birthday because I’m not usually comfortable getting my picture taken. By the end of the photoshoot I was so glad I decided to have my husband and me in pictures. It was so much fun to play with our daughter and have candid photos taken, and when it was time to pose I felt so comfortable because of Kelly’s direction and laid back personality. I can’t wait to have more pictures taken by her in the future!” – Alison

Earlier this year I got to capture some portraits of a fun & sweet boy and his family as he was about to celebrate his first communion – meet Hunter! … We met at their church, the Catholic Community of St. Thomas More, and I was so thankful to see allll the beautiful natural light that their sanctuary has! I also love how little time it took for Hunter’s fun personality to start shining through. 🙂 Gotta have some funny faces mixed in with the serious ones for Mom!

“Isaac was turning two years old a few weeks after the session, so we were able to capture some fun photos to have on display at his train-themed birthday party! They ordered a gallery image of the next photo… You can see the completed gallery image at the bottom of the post!”

“We’ve already made it through 20 weeks of my pregnancy, and we’re halfway to baby! Again, how?! I want to say the first part of the pregnancy might seem to go faster than the second part because we didn’t know about it for the first 4.5 weeks & didn’t have confirmation until 6.5 weeks… but time will actually probably keep flying like it always does.

“I posted on social media last week that at the end of this week I would share the first of 3-4 upcoming Light Creative announcements. These announcements will be made over the next couple months, and today is the first one!

I’m excited to say that it’s a very big announcement and one that will affect my personal life forever… Andrew and I are expecting a baby at the end of August!”

Allow me to introduce you to Jayne, Michael, Colin, and Mary Kate! Jayne and Michael had the last-minute thought to get some photos taken while their adult children were in town over the holidays last year, and Jayne wasn’t sure she’d be able to find anyone to help them out before Colin and Mary Kate headed back home to NYC. I am so thankful that she found me on Yelp and that we got to enjoy a session together on New Year’s Eve!

“If you’re in Raleigh today, you’re experiencing a rainy, rainy day. If you’re in Northern VA or father north, you likely have a snow day! Wherever you are, hopefully you’re able to stay cozy in your house. That’s the best part about in-home photo sessions – they’re not dependent on the weather! This makes them great for any time of year, and I am so thankful for that! We took these photos on New Year’s Eve, just one week before Oliver turned one year old. It was a chilly, misty day, but in-home sessions are awesome any day of the year!”

“This week I got to look through all my photos from 2018, and – surprise, surprise – there was lots of joy & silliness to be found within last year’s sessions, too! You see, even though I photograph people from all different walks of life, I’ve found that my clients all tend to have one thing in common: THEY GET SILLY. WE GET SILLY. WE DON’T TAKE OURSELVES TOO SERIOUSLY. And this is basically my favorite thing. I love capturing joy for people, and it’s even more fun when they throw a funny face out there and just have a good ol’ time with the moments we share together!”
